If you remember Washington DC winning Miss USA for the second year in a row, then you probably already know DC Swim Week’s special guest Kara McCullough, a beautiful, humble chemist who works at the US Nuclear Regulatory Commission. Yeah, no big deal. While most of us got introduced to Kara when she took home the crown for DC a consecutive year at Miss USA, she’s always embodied so much more than just what it means to be the girl who won a title.

If you ever get the chance to Instagram stalk her (which let’s face it, you will) you can instantly see her reliability in her posts, almost giving you a sense you already know and can respect her. McCullough works as an emergency preparedness specialist in the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s Office of Nuclear Security and Incident Response.  She graduated honors with a degree in chemistry, focus radio chemistry, and the title of 75th Miss South Carolina State University. She went on to claim title after title before she made her wave at Miss USA for competing with her “natural hair”.  Sure, in reality none of us have probably even met her, but it’s clear she represents equality, inclusivity, and self love. We welcome her to DC Swim Week family and offer you the opportunity to get that chance to meet this beautiful and engaging young woman at our Genesis or Resort collection show!

Kara truly represents the essence of ” beauty and brains” and we are proud to partner with her and spread a platform of true empowerment this year. We hope you’ll join us.
