Bia Ullman was created in Rhode Island, in 2013, when Fabiana Ullman, a Brazilian with a passion for traveling, fashion, and beaches realized that there was a noticeable gap in the market for ethically made, quality shoes.

An idea began to flourish, and soon with the help of her husband, and business partner, Bia Ullman would start production to bring the latest trends in shoes to the US. In 2014 the Ullman family moved to Hawaii, where they noticed the need for eco-friendly and ethically made swimwear. Bia Ullman introduced its first line of Brazilian bikinis made with biodegradable fabric to the island of Oahu. Since 2014, Bia Ullman swimwear has been traveling the world with its customers on a mission to provide quality products, enforce labor ethics, and use sustainable materials.

Ethical fashion is not a mere trend at Bia Ullman. Products are handmade in Brazil, in ISO and GOTS-certified factories, to ensure high quality for the fashionable and ethically-minded shopper. They only work with manufacturers with high standards of welfare for the craftsmen who handle their products, and work exclusively with small factories with whom they have built close relationships. Bia Ullman uses biodegradable nylon in their collections, produced with AMNI Soul Eco yarn, the first biodegradable nylon in the world. In selecting fabric, BU places the highest importance on production and environmental impact, to include volume of water consumed and types of chemicals used.

BU is committed to continuously improvement and education in sustainable production methods to make their pieces as green as possible. With each collection Bia Ullman aims to empower women and celebrate beach life while honoring those who make their products and preserving the environment. BU’s goal is to offer the latest trends, colors, and styles for the sophisticated, stylish, and ethically minded woman. Bia Ullman, helping you BU.
